Gelato Messina, Surry Hills

Ice blocks, sorbet, ice cream, gelato, what do they all have in common? The fact that they are all wildly inappropriate to consume during a 4 degree celsius winter night. But has that fact really stopped anyone? One can argue that excess consumption of the stuff will lead to increased fat storage which will lead to warmer nights so.............. yeah.

Giandura Bianca, Coconut Pandan, Ode to Zeno's 7
Decisions don't get any tougher than this when you're presented with such a wide array of flavours. There's a reason why Gelato Messina's so popular and that's because they're all so well done. You can't help but marvel at the intriguing clarity of flavours and it's especially so with pandan coconut.

Gelato messina has very much recreated a lot of the ice cream culture around Sydney much like how Max Brenner has done so with chocolate. Widely known for their wild creations, the walk up there through Foveaux to the newly opened store in Surry Hills after dinner was a no brainer. Expanding out to more ideal locations is a smart move. Just watch the queues just explode come summer time.

yum! my favourite flavour is still berry yogurt :)

Last time I went, I didn't buy pandan coconut!! Instead, I tried 'Elvis: the Fat Years' (SO GOOD!) and the 'Salted Coconut + Mango' which was alright. Did you know they have 'Golden Gaytime' this week? I must try it! Hahaha!

@ tastyfoodsnaps. Berry yoghurt? Well I must try out this berry yoghurt flavour of yours. Thanks for the recommendation.

@ kimmyowimmy. No Pandan Coconut? My my, you are getting adventurous! I think i'm going this arvo again.

No, we aren't the most amazing gastronomes or chefs. Heck, half our team doesn't even know how to cook... well. However, what we really love is eating. And lots of it. We enjoy that occasional freebie, filling up that craving for a midnight snack and finding a 20 in our pockets that we thought we never had, and using that as an excuse to go out eating. As we battle the ongoing war on uni student poverty, we'll bring you the most swoon worthy recounts of our latest foodie adventures.
